A5288898 Hal is a level-headed 1-year-old black and tan male German Shepherd puppy who came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on June 11th after being found as a stray. Weighing 76 lbs, Hal is remarkably calm for a young dog and our volunteers described him as “very chill” despite being easily distracted in the noisy shelter environment. He has thick lush fur and huge paws, and fly strikes on his ears suggest he was left outside way too much. This gentle guy deserves better, and we think he’s an ideal family dog. Hal is affectionate and likes to lean into his handler so we think he will bond quickly and deeply with a new person or family. He needs some practice on leash and is a blank slate for training. Though a bit selective with other dogs, Hal has been in playgroups and was good with other dogs with moderate energy. With a little training and love, Hal will be a devoted companion as an indoor dog with someone who loves him.
